GI Partners (“GI”), a leading mid-market private investment firm, announced today the sale of its portfolio company, The Telx Group, Inc. (“Telx”), one of the fastest growing providers of global interconnection and colocation facilities, to ABRY Partners and Berkshire Partners LLC, two Boston-based investment firms. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

With a plan to expand internationally through a merger with the London Stock Exchange thwarted by a lack of shareholder support and a rival bid, Canada's TMX Group - Toronto Stock Exchange, Montreal Exchange, and others - is extending its reach through the acquisition of Atrium Network.  The move provides its markets with connectivity to North America, the UK, continental Europe and down to Brazil.

Just 106 milliseconds roundtrip, is the published latency for Perseus Telecom's new low-latency connection between Nasdaq's Carteret, NJ data centre and the Sao Paulo-based Brazilian securities, commodities and futures marketplace, awkwardly named BM&FBOVESPA.  Perseus is leveraging GlobeNet's submarine cable to go south.

Perseus Telecom, a global provider of telecommunications, announced today that the firm has created the fastest available trading connection to leading Latin American exchange BM&F BOVESPA, via a partnership with GlobeNet, an international wholesale provider of submarine capacity, and a wholly owned subsidiary of Oi. Perseus Telecom now provides the most streamlined, lowest latency route directly linking Sao Paulo’s BM&F BOVESPA to New York’s NASDAQ OMX, and in turn, routes to major global exchanges such as the CME, NYSE, BATS, LSE, Deutsche Börse and Eurex.

Atrium Network, which will be rebranded TMX Atrium, will operate as a unit of TMX Datalinx, TMX Group’s information services division.

A bit more insight into the Level 3/London Stock Exchange news today.  After previously relying on others - competitors - to provide last mile connectivity to the LSE's co-location centre, the connectivity provider now owns that segment.  While that means slightly lower latency, the main benefit is related to control and management, so Level 3 can now offer a service level agreement with greater confidence, and faster network set up.

So, Bats Europe has officially signed on to relocate its matching engines to Equinix's LD4 facility in Slough, west of London.  If all goes well, it will be up and running at its new location in October, as a new member of the 'community' there.

Equinix, a provider of data center services, today announced the opening of the second phase of its latest London (LD5) International Business Exchange (IBX) data center. This expansion of Platform Equinix adds another 4,000 square meters of customer space and capacity for 1,400 cabinet equivalents in the London metropolitan area.

Level 3 Communications today announced the launch of a new ultra-low-latency fibre-optic route to increase trading speeds between London and Frankfurt. The new route will also allow banks, hedge funds, brokers and other financial services institutions to execute trades with lower latency between additional exchanges connected to the Level 3 network including Zurich, Milan, New York and Chicago.
