Low Latency People: StreamBase Adds Complex Event Processing Pioneer to Top Management Team

StreamBase Systems, a provider of complex event processing (CEP) software, has appointed former Apama general manager Mark Palmer as president and chief operating officer. Prior to joining StreamBase, Palmer worked for Progress Software, where he led that company’s acquisition of CEP software vendor Apama and then led the Apama business unit as general manager.

Tervela, developer of high-performance messaging systems, has named Robert Ciampa as its new vice president of marketing and Stephen Johnson as its chief financial officer. Ciampa was previously vice president of marketing and business strategy for Trusted Network Technologies, while Johnson was formerly CFO for ManageSoft Corporation. Ciampa joins Tervela’s management team to provide strategic worldwide marketing direction to the message switch provider. Johnson is responsible for strategic leadership and financial management for all of Tervela’s corporate-wide financial operations and accounting practices.

Low Latency People: Kx Shuffles Senior Managers

Kx Systems, provider of high-performance database and time series analysis, has named new roles for several members of its management team. Janet Lustgarten, previously president and COO, has been named the CEO of Kx, while Arthur Whitney takes over as president, having previously served as the CEO of Kx. Simon Garland, previously Kx CTO, is taking on the role of chief strategist. This will allow Garland to focus on the broader technology issues and key industry developments. Niall Dalton takes on the title of CTO, having previously been the chief solutions architect.

Low Latency People: Aleri Hires Two New Regional Sales Directors

Sandi Hennessy and Nathan Wolaver have joined Aleri’s sales team as regional sales directors. Hennessy, most recently with Teradata, is located in Los Angeles and will be focused on expanding Aleri’s footprint beyond the financial industry. Wolaver, previously a senior sales executive at Asset Control Systems, will be working out of Aleri’s new New York office and will be responsible for helping to manage and drive sales of the Aleri Streaming Platform within the financial services market in the North East region.

SpryWare Opens New York Office, Hires David Kaszovitz

SpryWare, provider of standardised low latency market data technology, is expanding its New York presence. SpryWare is already working with several clients in the region, it says, and the New York office will serve as the firm’s base for business development and support for the East coast. The office is designed to service SpryWare’s flagship product, the Market Information Server. On the sales side, SpryWare is bringing on board David Kaszovitz, most recently a member of the senior account sales team at Track Data Corporation.

Colin Clark, a 22-year veteran of the financial services industry and the former founding CTO of Kaskad Technology, has joined complex event processing (CEP) provider StreamBase Systems as vice president of customers. Clark takes responsibility for professional services, training and technical support for StreamBase’s customer base. Prior to co-founding Kaskad (Electronic Trading, December 2006), Clark founded Selero in 1999, serving as president and chief executive officer.

Low Latency People: 29West Appoints Tim Mund to Lead Sales as Part of Global Expansion

29West has appointed Tim Mund to head up its sales efforts worldwide. In this role, Mund will take responsibility for expansion into new regions and for 29West’s key market segments, which include banks and investment firms, hedge funds and exchanges worldwide. Mund will also focus on helping 29West’s banking clients reduce their overall costs by driving the adoption of 29West’s persistence messaging solutions across other areas of the banking enterprise beyond market data. Prior to joining 29West, Mund worked at Verizon and managed projects with Nasdaq and NASD from 2000 until 2006. In mid-2006, Mund made the move to Solace Systems where he focused on developing new client relationships in the financial markets on the US East Coast.
