Low latency datafeed/middleware specialist Wombat Financial Software has released it’s latest platform, dubbed Wombat Data Fabric, leveraging Infiniband technology from Voltaire. The new offering can sustain more than one million 200-byte messages per second over a Voltaire switch in less than 100 microseconds using commodity hardware.

Hardware-based ticker plant vendor Exegy is working with DRC to deploy various financial trading applications leveraging DRC’s coprocessor modules. Exegy already uses AMD Opteron and Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) technology in its appliance, offering throughput of two million messages per second. The link up with DRC will allow its coprocessor to be hosted within Exegy’s appliance (in according with AMD’s Torrenza initiative using a Opteron core) providing tight coupling with minimal latency.
Aegis Software’s Athena execution management system has been certified to connect with The Intercontinental Exchange’s iMpact datafeed. iMpact provides faster connectivity to ICE pricing, and is seen as the replacement for ICE’s FIX interface to market data. Support for ICE’s iMpact is available immediately from Aegis.

Wombat Financial Software has gained Platinum status for its Bloomberg B-Pipe feed handler. Wombat has sold and installed the B-Pipe feed handler in numerous customer sites across Asia, Europe and the US.

InfoDyne has been awarded Platinum level authorization for its integration with the Bloomberg B-Pipe consolidated data feed. The InfoDyne solution is available today and was achieved in large part through much of the functionality that previously existed within its TPS+Plus direct exchange feed ticker plant system. InfoDyne has also completed support for Bloomberg’s B-Pipe On-Demand feed, which is also based on the same implementation as InfoDyne’s Platinum B-Pipe solution.
So, those party animals at ACTIV Financial have invited me to a little gathering tonight - at the Nasdaq MarketSite in Times Square - to formally launch ActivFeed MPU, their new hardware-accelerated feed handling software. It should be an great event, and I’m looking forward to finding out more about the black art of programming FPGAs (that’s Field Programmable Gate Arrays) - an emerging technology that could have a huge impact on low latency systems.
