NYSE Euronext to Acquire Wombat Financial Software

NYSE Euronext has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Wombat Financial Software, privately held provider of high performance financial market data management solutions. This acquisition broadens NYSE Euronext’s offering of market agnostic connectivity, transaction and data management solutions to customers globally, by integrating Wombat’s market data enterprise software and services with the NYSE TransactTools connectivity and messaging business, NYSE Euronext reckons.

Vhayu Offers Additional Data Feed Handlers for North American Equities, Options, Futures

Vhayu has made new data feed handlers available on its Velocity product line. The additional feed handlers will enable financial institutions looking for consolidated feeds from Activ Financial, Interactive Data Corporation and Lava or direct exchange feeds from the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and the Toronto Stock Exchange to gain further access to broader feeds. Customers will also have access to a Feed Handler Development Kit, enabling them to develop direct connections to any market data source. These new data feed handlers are in addition to Velocity’s existing support of feed adapters for Reuters Data Feed (RDF) and Reuters Data Feed Direct (RDF-D), GL Trade and direct feed handlers for Options Price Reporting Authority (OPRA) and all Japanese exchanges.

InfoDyne, RTI Team on High Performance Market Data Platform

InfoDyne Corporation, provider of market data technology, has entered into a strategic relationship with Real-Time Innovations (RTI), a middleware provider, to offer RTI’s ultra low latency messaging middleware as an embedded transport option within InfoDyne’s TPS+Plus Market Data Platform. Under this relationship, InfoDyne will package and license RTI’s messaging software along with TPS+Plus and will provide direct support for the integrated solution. All of InfoDyne’s supported datafeeds and system functionality are available as part of the solution.

Banks Set to Increase Low Latency Spend, Tabb Predicts

The market for low latency messaging middleware is set to rise from $95 million in 2007 to $168 million in 2010, a three-year compound annual growth rate of 107 per cent, as investment banks ramp up spending on the technology to cope with rapidly increasing message volumes, according to forecasts from Tabb Group. The analyst estimates the overall spend on low latency infrastructures will reach $300 million in 2007. This includes message buses, feed handlers, ticker plants, complex event processors, physical transport and data storage and integration of internal and external applications.

STAC Benchmark Focuses on Transport Latency - Wombat, 29 West, Sun, AMD, Solaris

STAC has released a benchmark focused on mininizing transport latency, comprising Wombat Financial Software’s market datafeed simulator, 29West’s Latency Busters Messaging, a Sun Microsystems Sun Fire X4200 M2 with 2 Dual Core AMD Opteron 2.8 GHz processors and Solaris 10 update 3. The solution was able to deliver an overall mean latency of 84 microseconds at 50,000 updates per second over standard Gigabit Ethernet.

Wombat, Voltaire Break Million Messages Per Second

Low latency datafeed/middleware specialist Wombat Financial Software has released it’s latest platform, dubbed Wombat Data Fabric, leveraging Infiniband technology from Voltaire. The new offering can sustain more than one million 200-byte messages per second over a Voltaire switch in less than 100 microseconds using commodity hardware.

Exegy, DRC Partner On Hardware Acceleration

Hardware-based ticker plant vendor Exegy is working with DRC to deploy various financial trading applications leveraging DRC’s coprocessor modules. Exegy already uses AMD Opteron and Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) technology in its appliance, offering throughput of two million messages per second. The link up with DRC will allow its coprocessor to be hosted within Exegy’s appliance (in according with AMD’s Torrenza initiative using a Opteron core) providing tight coupling with minimal latency.
