Low Latency People: StreamBase Adds Complex Event Processing Pioneer to Top Management Team

Prior to joining StreamBase, Palmer worked for Progress Software, where he led that company’s acquisition of CEP software vendor Apama and then led the Apama business unit as general manager.

IBM Tests ‘Stream Supercomputing’ with TD Bank

IBM is working with Canada’s TD Bank to test its new ’stream computing’ software, which uses IBM’s Blue Gene supercomputer to manage larger volumes of data than traditional technology. The stream computing architecture uses algorithms to analyse live structured and unstructured data from any source and, says IBM, can examine thousands of information sources in real time, so the bank can capitalise on changing market conditions as they happen.

StreamBase, Reuters Extend Next-Gen Market Data Development Environment

StreamBase Systems has released the latest version of StreamBase Reuters Edition (SRE) adding support for Reuters Data Feed Direct (RDF-D) and introducing Reuters Schema Designer, a “live preview” tool for browsing and content on Reuters Market Data System (RMDS). SRE makes it even easier to build ultra low latency real-time market data applications powered by Reuters market data feeds and RMDS, the vendors say. StreamBase Reuters Edition Version 2 builds on the initial SRE launch in November 2007 (Market Data Insight, November 2007).

Vhayu Tick Processing Engine Adds 29 New Customers in 2007

Vhayu says 29 new customers globally were added to its client roster during 2007, tripling the company’s revenue in the process. The new customers have licensed Vhayu Velocity either directly from the company or as the Reuters Tick Capture Engine, powered by Vhayu Velocity, which Reuters resells under a non-exclusive licence. The associated growth in revenue reflects the increase in market data volumes and customer requirements for systems capable of supporting this surge in data, which is expected to continue well into 2009 and beyond, the vendor reckons.
