Reuters has launched a high-speed data feed that is directly connected to OMX Nordic Exchange’s full order book. Reuters Data Feed Direct allows professional investors and vendors to receive market data directly from the OMX trading system with the same low latency as members of the OMX Nordic Exchange. Reuters says it is the first vendor to offer this data feed, which provides market data for equity and related products. The data is derived from OMX’s low latency data feed based on Genium FIX that launched in November 2007. The new Reuters Data Feed Direct provides data to fuel algorithms, pricing engines and other latency sensitive applications.

Please excuse the headline … I wanted to be cute and grab some attention. When it comes to market data rates, OPRA - the Options Price Reporting Authority - makes the headlines that low latency vendors (and industry analysts) love to cite - because the numbers are so frighteningly big. The reality, though, is a bit different.

InfoDyne Corporation, provider of direct exchange feed handlers and ticker plant technology, says multiple customers have deployed its solution for the new ArcaBook Multicast for Equities full depth Orderbook feed from NYSE Euronext. The new FAST version of the ArcaBook Equity feed has just been release by ARCA to replace its existing TCP/IP based datafeed. Message rates last quarter on NYSE’s ARCA Equites feed hit one second peaks of 108,000, while on Nasdaq’s INET feed message rates rose to five second peaks of 60,000. By migrating to multicast distribution, ARCA’s head end system can transmit the data once to all subscribers, as opposed to sending it individually via TCP/IP sessions to each and every customer, which can cause data latency, especially at peak times of the day.

Interactive Data Corporation’s new European ticker plant for its Real-Time Services business has gone live. The new ticker plant provides latency gains of at least 80 milliseconds, significantly reducing delivery times for European consumers of European real-time data distributed by PlusFeed, Interactive Data’s low latency, consolidated global datafeed. All European customers receiving PlusFeed will benefit from this enhancement, the vendor says. Interactive Data is also announcing the availability of a low latency co-location facility. Customers in Europe will have the option of co-locating their applications in data centres close to the new London-based ticker plant to take advantage of the low latency delivery of European data.
