XtremeData, which develops FPGA-based in-socket accelerators for high-performance computing and low latency applications, has joined the HP Accelerator Program, making its XD2000F accelerator available for the rack-mounted AMD microprocessor-based HP ProLiant DL165 and HP ProLiant DL185 servers.

Later today at the High Performance Linux on Wall Street conference in New York City, the Collaborative Software Initiative (CSI) will announce first products based on its Open Market Data (OMD) architecture, which was created to address the need for a standards-based solution for distributing financial services market data to trading applications. The products are an open set of feed handlers supporting the three highest volume exchange data sources: FAST OPRA V2, ArcaBook Multicast and ITCH 4.0.

Connectivity and network services provider Atrium Network added a point of presence at Equinix’s GV1 International Business Exchange (IBX) data centre in Geneva. The move will give financial services customers operating in Equinix’s GV1 centre with access to Atrium Network’s low latency connectivity capabilities, and gives Atrium Network a presence in Geneva.

Algo-trading technology specialist QuantHouse has released a benchmark for its feed handler, which can now process 3.3 million messages per second, using Intel's new Xeon 5570 2.93 GHz microprocessor. The benchmark was performed at Intel's fasterLAB.

IBM has added four new feed handlers to its WebSphere Front Office for Financial Markets platform. The move continues IBM’s process of expanding the platform’s feed-handling offerings within the low-latency, direct feed segment.

Savvis has introduced low latency connectivity options with Chi-X Canada and Europe's Turquoise, following on from recent connections with Nasdaq OMX, Bats, CME Group and the London Stock Exchange.

Developers of low latency trading and market data applications are likely to benefit from new Intel Xeon 5500 Series microprocessors introduced today. Based on Intel's new Nehalem architecture, the chips are expected to offer much improved performance and less power consumption compared to current chips, especially in the areas of multi-threading, memory access, interconnect technology for co-processors and XML processing.

Need to Know News has begun providing its Lightning Bolt algorithmic news feed service within the Equinix Frankfurt-North (FR2) International Business Exchange (IBX®) data centre, in addition to its current availability within Equinix centres in the New York and Chicago areas.

Data centre infrastructure services vendor Switch and Data has set up a financial services practice, with a focus on addressing data volume and low-latency issues. The company offers hosting and interconnection options in close proximity to liquidity providers in New York, Chicago and Toronto.
