CTC, GemStone Partner to Provide Grid Computing to Financial Institutions in Japan

Japan’s ITOCHU Techno-Solutions Corporation (CTC) and enterprise data fabric provider GemStone Systems say they have partnered to provide a data grid solution for financial computing systems. CTC will market GemStone’s data grid software GemFire Enterprise Data Fabric (GemFire EDF) and related software products as its high performance data access solution. The two will jointly promote the large scale grid computing environment for the needs of high performance and real-time transaction processing.

This follows US company GemStone’s opening of an office in Tokyo and formation of GemStone Systems KK last year (AsiaMarketsIT.com, October 30 2007). At that time, GemStone already had a partnership in place with Japan’s NIWS to jointly target the Japanese marketplace – and the vendor said the NIWS partnership would continue, and that it had other relationships in place and endorsements from Japanese providers, including CTC.

GemFire EDF is said to provide a low latency solution to the “data bottleneck”. The solution supports the creation of a data management infrastructure for high speed data access by managing data in computer memory (cache) and enabling the distribution of data across multiple computer nodes. By using GemFire EDF synchronous and asynchronous data replication capabilities, financial institutions can build very low latency systems which guarantee no data loss in data replication among servers, the vendor claims. Data synchronisation between remote locations and disaster recovery sites can also be built with the data replication capability of GemFire EDF.
