Oracle to Acquire BEA Systems
Following months of speculation Oracle has bought BEA Systems for $8.5 billion, enhancing and extending Oracle’s Fusion Middleware Suite. The Board of Directors of BEA Systems has unanimously approved the transaction, which is likely to be closed by mid-2008, subject to BEA stockholder approval, certain regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions. BEA has been an Oracle takeover target for some months, as reported in Pete’s blog on Low-Latency.com on October 17 2007.
